General Gynaecology

Our gynaecology service provides comprehensive care for the investigation and treatment of women’s health concerns in Munster.

From your very first visit you will receive a thorough assessment, including a detailed medical history and, where appropriate, investigations and treatment.

Treatment can even begin on that first visit – if that works for you, reducing the need for multiple appointments or hospital visits. A number of gynecological conditions are particularly suitable for ambulatory care. These include period problems, pelvic pain, postmenopausal bleeding, PMOS and genital skin disorders.

Privacy and dignity

At Scotia Clinic, we understand the importance of privacy and dignity when discussing women’s health concers. Be assured that discretion, confidentiality and sensitivity are at the heart of everything we do.

Flexible appointments

Our clinics are held on Tuesdays and Fridays, with a Saturday clinic available each month. Additional appointments may also be offered outside of these times where possible, to accommodate your work or family commitments.

Our Teen Health service provides confidential, supportive care for young people, focusing on menstrual and reproductive health. We offer advice and assessment for period problems (such as irregular, painful or heavy periods), contraception counselling, sexual health education, and general wellbeing. Appointments are delivered in a safe, respectful environment where teenagers can ask questions openly and receive clear, age-appropriate guidance tailored to their needs. We also support teenagers with ADHD and autism to navigate menstrual, reproductive, and women’s health with confidence.

The Scotia Clinic provide their own gynaecological scanning as part of a consultaiton, including HyFosy, 3D scanning, fertility and investigation of heavy periods; this complements hysterosalpingograms which are radiation based.
Gynaecological conditions which benefit from a Trans-Vaginal scan include: heavy periods, post-menopausal bleeding, pelvic pain, fertility problems and suspected ovarian cysts. Some ovarian cysts can be drained via ultrasound guidance.
The Scotia Clinic provides satellite IVF for partner clinics in Ireland and throughout Europe. We will also facilitate other clinics on request.

We have access to advanced diagnostic services, including X-ray, MRI and DEXA scanning, through our trusted healthcare network, helping to ensure timely and accurate diagnosis. We can also arrange rapid access to hospital care if urgent specialist care is required.

Our approach

We encourage early consultations, particularly for menopause and believe that most women’s health concerns can be effectively treated. We understand the importance of your health and strongly believe that women should be encouraged to seek medical advice early, rather than living with symptoms that can often be treated, particularly for menopause and perimenopause. We also feel that young girls with period problems should be seen early. Our goal is to provide prompt, expert care in a comfortable and supportive environment.
